Bucket List

When people talk about a bucket list, they are referring to a number of experiences they hope to have or accomplish during their lifetime.

I haven't always thought of myself as a bucket list kind of person; someone with a zest for life and the confidence to make things happen. I stay the course, don’t rock the boat, watch from the sidelines and cheer someone else on. It took me a long time to put a couple of things on my bucket list.

If you have a bucket list, that is awesome, but not having one is fine too. It is fun to do spontaneous things as well. Amazing things can happen, and we think they should’ve been on our bucket list, but we didn’t realize it was something we would enjoy.

What do people have on their bucket lists? Is having a bucket list setting ourselves up to be disappointed if we don’t achieve those goals? It is, after all, just a list, so it is adaptable. I think a bucket list has its merits. It gives us something to strive for, dream about and, if nothing else, a happy place to go in our minds.

We may feel like we haven’t done much in our lives, but if you take a moment to reflect, there are usually some interesting stories in everyone’s past.

Some things that have happened in my life definitely aren't what I would put on a bucket list. You may recognize some of the things on the list below from stories on this blog, but I also have experienced things that you might not know about, including:

How to Make a Bucket List
  • Reflect on what you want to accomplish, experience and learn
  • Consider short and long term plans (some quick wins are motivating)
  • Decide where you want to go
  • Think about who you would like to share these experiences with
  • Brainstorm ways to finance your dreams - a second job, a designated savings account, downsize
If it doesn’t make you want to jump out of bed, it isn’t worth going on your bucket list, i.e. clean the garage.

Feel free to share some of your experiences and what is on your bucket list. You only live once!

If you like my stories, please share them with your friends and family to help me increase my readership.
Thank you so much. Norma
