Back To The 80’s

1980s
My story70’s Teenager: 6 Things That Will Take You Back” struck a chord with a lot of people. Evidently, there are a significant number of us pining for our lost youth. Now it is time to leave the 70’s behind and move on to the 80’s as there are more memories I want to share with you.

Although most of my teenage years were spent in the 70’s, I was still a teenager in the early 80’s. We got married in 1981 when I was nineteen. I had graduated high school, gone to business school for a year and started a full-time job. I felt more like an adult than a freewheeling teenager. We were married four years before we had kids, so we had time to have fun with our friends and grow up a bit.

Much like the 70’s, the 80’s had its own unique style. Looking back everything in the 80’s seemed big: hair, collars, phones, vehicles and computers. My tastes and memories may be different from yours, but this is how I remember that time in my life.

Hair

The bigger the better - through this decade we had big bangs, we permed, teased, crimped and feathered our hair and kept the hair product companies in business. I had permed hair and so did The Hubs, although he doesn’t like to remember that. Some of the guys rocked mullets.
