Happiness | Some Days You Feel Like a Rockstar, Some Days You Feel Like a Rock

Happiness is that feeling that comes over you when life is good, and you can't help but smile. It is that flutter you feel in your chest, a sense of well-being or contentment. When we are successful, or safe, or lucky, we feel happiness.

Happy people have a high level of gratitude, live hopefully and are optimistic. I would say that these people are able to let go of things so that they can evolve. They are good at living in the moment.

Being a better person and living a better life requires so much work.  It seems simpler to accept our lot in life and continue to hoe the same hard row. We get a spark and then it fades to a dull glow as we lack motivation or are afraid to follow through. I can't begin to tell you how many brilliant life changing plots I have hatched in my mind that faded away into indecision. Stepping off our well-worn path is very scary indeed.

Retirement is a transition to a new beginning with many choices. What guides our decisions in this next stage of life - honesty, integrity, guilt, fear of failure, what others think? Fear is inevitable but we can overcome it. How would you like the rest of your story to be written?

We can look to the past for clues to our future. As we reflect, we will see clear patterns emerge about what we love, and what we do best.

Can happiness really be a state of being or is it just a passing emotion?  What about those people we all know that seem perpetually happy? Are they authentic or are they unhappy people overcompensating? Some of the most famous people in the world who seemed to have it all were very tortured souls.

What makes you happy and nurtures your soul? Quiet your mind and visualize it. I have always said "once you lose your sense of humor it's all over".  Keep your chin up and don't believe everything you think about yourself. I love the question "what would you do if you knew you couldn't fail"?

"There is no path to happiness: happiness is the path." Buddha
